New Year New Focus

As we step into the New Year 2013, so do the traditional resolutions. For as long as I've been alive, the number one New Year's resolution has remained in America: to lose weight. If you type in "diet" in the Google search bar, you'll get over 119 million results. If you Google “weight loss”, you'll get 407 million results. Americans are obsessed with being thin and it gets worse on January 1st every single year. A diet is a slow process, yet when we turn on our televisions and open magazines, we instantly see airbrushed models and we want to look just like them.

Almost ten million girls and women are suffering from eating disorders because they are ashamed of their bodies. Not only is an eating disorder a physical problem, but it is very obvious that it is a mental problem because it has so much to do with self-esteem and confidence.

Our teenaged girls are confused because when watching television, they see commercials offering delicious foods such as cakes, pies, cookies, delicious fried things, pizzas, and coffees crammed full of calories you can sip while hanging out with your friends at the local mall. Then you flip the channel, and there you see a popular movie star, singer or super model and she weighs about 105 pounds wearing the most fashionable, sparkly tank tops and skinny pants all snazzed up with the cutest scarf or belt you've ever seen. Our girls will never look like that. Our girls don't understand that they're beautiful just the way they are right now. When we try to tell them, they think we are supposed to say that because we are their parents and we love them. And we do love them.

If a person is suffering from an eating disorder, the first thing they need is support. They need to seek medical attention right away. During the time of recovering from an eating disorder, use a supplement like a tonic focusing on the digestive system to help your body get back to normal. This tonic helps enhance the secretion of digestive juices in the body, improves digestion, stimulates appetite, and stimulates and cleanses the liver and gallbladder.

As far as the psychological aspect of an eating disorder, use a supplement with herbs that assists the body with emotionaldistress by supporting emotional balance. The best are Flower Essences, which are liquid extracts developed for modern issues of emotional and physical stress.

No doubt, all of us, over eat around the holidays as families gather for good times and great home cooked meals. So, we may want to shed some of those pounds the right way.

Also, exercise and a good meal plan and diet help.
