How many of us feel the need to reach for antacids after more and more meals as we get older (older, as in mid-30's)? And how many of us end up at the doctor's office only to get a prescription for Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPI)?
We should be more informed of how our bodies actually work before we run to the pharmacy every time we're handed a prescription.
As we get older, the enzymes in our stomachs slow down and our bodies need more help digesting the food we eat. When we cook food, the natural enzymes break down causing food to become even more difficult to digest. We "think" we have heart burn, so we take antacids.
Those antacids and PPI's are actually doing more harm than good even though we feel better when we take them. They cause the stomach acid not to function properly letting the food in our stomach sit there and rot and not digest through our intestines properly. Over years, that can cause our colons to become compacted, resulting in diarrhea because we can no longer pass nutrients through the colon. Then the next thing you know, we're again at the doctor, but now needing a colonoscopy.
The entire problem can be dealt with simply by giving our bodies what they really lack in the first place - and that is extra enzymesin order to fully digest the food that we're eating. Natural enzymes break down carbohydrates, proteins and fats in order to be passed through our system and allowing our bodies to accept the nutrients from what we eat to be useful (and not rushed through our system resulting in diarrhea). Bile salts can help our bodies digest proteins and fats.
Natural ingredients can help nutritionally support digestion in times of occasional stomach upset: wintergreen oil, papaya fruit, slippery elm bark, licorice root concentrate and ginger rhizome, all of which may help to protect the mucous lining of the esophagus, aid and promote digestion, and soothe the digestive tract. Instead of preventing stomach acids from doing their job and not digesting the food, it actually aids in proper digestion so the food you eat is not sitting in your stomach causing discomfort.
Isn't it about time we give our bodies what they truly need instead of covering up the problem with chemicals that can harm us and cause side effects? I can say I personally benefitted from these products and they have changed my life for the better.
